I can see why that is an impassable turn!
Now that is one tight turn. Where is it located so I won't take that road when showing property?
Ann, no problem ......... I could make that turn with my eyes closed, which just happens to be how I do my best driving .............. LOL
Tony and Darcy,
It is not an easy turn for a car much less a tractor trailer type vehicle.
Thanks for stopping by and Merry Christmas,
Ann
I think I'd be concerned about there not being any arrows or reflectors, any kind of indication there is a big curve!! Right over the edge!
Don,
The bridge is located in Franklin county just outside of the city limits of Pacific. It is known as the Bend Bridge....can you guess why?
Merry Christmas,
Ann
George,
With your eyes closed??? WOW! Better to keep your eyes open so maybe you can see where you are going...;-)
Ann
Doreen,
There are some arrows but they are not placed in good spots. It is a "scary" brigde...
Ann
That is scary looking from here. I wonder how many people have been in accidents going over the edge.
Hi Ann, Thanks for sharing the impassable turn. Sometimes just seems funny they build roads and bridges like this...is it old? Interesting and thanks for sharing.
Looks like a very dangerous road i wouldn't want my lids driving there.
Doreen,
Not too many accidents. They have a lovely guard rail and lots of trees. My concern would be falling into the river but I doubt you would ever make it. I suppose if you were traveling fast enough....you might.
Ann
Hey Sandy,
Yes, it is an old bridge. It has been there forever. It was a plank bridge prior to the way it is now. My sister who is much older than me took a horse across it way back then!
Ann
If you ever find a picture of the old plank bridge you should post it too.
Merry Christmas!
Ann - That does look like a sharp turn, and no room for a turn around!
Merry Christmas!
Hi Ann, Bless you on this Christmas Day and always. Thank you for your friendship!
There's something timeless and even romantic about some of the older bridges in the country.
Ann,
I am not sure if any photos of the old bridge exist. I will ask around.
Ann
April,
No room for much of anything... I have met people who think two cars can cross the bridge.....
YIKES!
Ann
Hey Sandy,
I hope you enjoy yourself very much this Christmas...
Ann
Russel,
When I was a child, this bridge was a reason to hide. I did not like it at all. I always pictured it falling while I was on it. Come to find out the water beneath is only about 6 feet deep...
Now the bridge is less threatening. ;-)
Ann
Kelly,
It is a dangerous road but not for the bridge but for the fact there are no shoulders. The EMTs here say running off the road is the biggest killer in the area due to inexperience and over compensation. It is sad but true.
Merry Christmas to you,
Ann
Ann,
Those pictures explain the sign. Actually no sign is needed after looking at the bridge. Thanks for posting them. :)
Steve
Steve,
But the point behind the sign is to warn of the problem. Does it do this effectively? I do not think so. I think most do not know what an impassable turn is until they see the situation in person and then it is TOO LATE! ;-)
Merry Christmas,
Ann
