Here is a list of some pretty crazy places people hide their hard earned cash...
1) Attic- may cause serious itching later.
2) Toilet paper tube...Could get thrown away.
3) In a wall- You may forget where it is.
4) Inside the pad areas of a push up bra- You may lose it to a serious friend?
5) Dirty clothes hamper- someone else may do the laundry and claim it.
6) In a tampon box- YUK!
7) Cookie jar- would never work with Marti, the cookie monster, in the house.
8) Envelope taped to the bottom of furniture- here again you could forget.
9) Stuffed away in an old purse- You might donate it.
10) In an artificial plant vase- now who would look here?
So where do you hide your cash?? Please share your ideas!! I need some new hiding spots for the little I saved at the gas station this week.

Those places may be better than the stock market right now ...haha
When I was young, I would throw cash into my underwear drawer. At the end of the year, I would gather it up, and buy myself something nice...like new underwear.
If you are like our Senator, it's in your bra...
Hi Ann,
Call me old fashion, the bank works for me.
Sam You shouldn't say that about Sen. Kennedy.....hehehe
If it were my wife....their would only be $100s in that Bra....
Ann, for what's left it's between the cushions of the couch. Heads or tails?
Ann- my wife thinks she is the keeper of the cash. If not, it goes in the safe.
I had a client who found 5-$100 dollar bills under some shelf paper in the basement. The dates on the bills were over 20 years old!
I like putting it in the freezer (talk about cold hard cash!). Way in the back opposite the ice maker - one time before I learned this, I had it under the ice-tray and spilled water. The cash got frozen to the bottom of the freezer.
The freezer came to me as a safe place because one time (at band camp...) I saw a house that had burned to the ground, but the refrigerator was still standing.
but wait...I don't put it in the freezer anymore, so don't look there...
I heard of a woman who put the large bills under an area rug....one next to another!
Ann, I would just love to have some to hide----then I would get to work on the "where" part:)

Whoa, if someone tells then it isn't hidden any more is it?
I always stash some vacation money every year, just the dollars to spend on the trip. I am not doing as good this year.
I don't know about hiding it, but I sure would like to find some!
How about the trunk?? When I show homes my purse goes in the trunk. At open houses - in the trunk. I think it's safe there.
Chris,
Yes, those could be better than the market...
Ann

What an interesting idea....
Ann

I hear you on having some to hide!
Ann

I bet you have a bunch of change in the bucket. Before you spend it, be sure to look at all of it. You might have some gems in there.
Ann

I am doing an experiment to find some lost money....

Keep working on it. It may start looking up soon.

Ann
Ann, I trust you, but not sure I can tell everyone else the secret spot as they might come and take my last $20. As a kid though a family friend passed away and left everything to a family member. My family went in to clean it up and found money hidden everywhere. It would be wrapped up in tinfoil under a seat cushion, tucked away in clothes doors, kitchen doors, in tin cans. Apparently she didn't trust the banks. They didn't like the fact the friend had died, but it made the work afterwards a scavenger hunt. I wasn't there, but when I heard about it later I sure wish I had been!!!
Glen,
WOW! What an awesome find. I know my grandma probably had money stashed but I was not invited to go through her stuff... Most of it was thrown into a dumpster after she passed away. SAD!
By the way, your secret would be safe with me. ;-)
Ann
Ann~ How about under the mattress, in the freezer, or buried in the ground............
Vickie,
Those are all good places. In the ground would be the worst though. I think I would forget where I buried it. ;-)
Ann
I'm boring. I have it in the bank mainly. If I do have a couple hundreds for whatever reason I will throw them in the freezer until I need them. Coins ALWAYS go in a coffee container in my closet. Save those coins for whatever later. KM
Kristin,
The coins get saved for something special I hope. Be sure before you spend them to check them. I have found a few old ones in my piggy banks.

Hi Ann, As in the previous post, I had heard about hiding money in the freezer. I have also heard that some taped it to the back of wall hangings. Some have the insides of a book cut out and hide it in there. I had a tenant that swore that he hid $750 under the carpeting, but couldn't remember where (?) We never found it when we tore all the carpeting and pad out of the house. Thanks for the article. Where you ever able to find your brother's missing money?
Sandy,
I have not had any luck finding the missing money. ;-(
Ann
My wise old grandmother hid money anywhere and everywhere. When we sold her hour and moved into into assisted living, we found money taped behind all the pictures, taped up under the sinks in the sink cabinet, taped to the bottom of drawers. Just amazing. I'm sure she had forgotten where it all was.
Russel,
Sounds like a terrific treasure hunt.
I am still looking,
Ann
