It is time for the shift in seasons. Are you ready for it? Summer with all its warmth and sunshine is quickly fading away. Fall is here. The weather is fairly nice during the day and the nights are cool. All of nature seems to be getting ready for the winter months ahead.
Yesterday, I happened upon a beautiful Monarch butterfly. It was absolutely gorgeous. Talk about taking a trip... These little butterflies travel to Mexico every year. This year the warmer temperatures are giving them more time to travel.
Every fall this magical event takes place. With instincts alone, these butterflies travel to only 12 mountaintops in Central Mexico from North America and Canada. These mountains are located just west of Mexico City. Their habitat is a very rare and unique fir forest. It only grows at elevations of 10,000 feet or higher.
To me this is absolutely amazing. So take the time to look for these wonderful creatures. You will not see them again until 2009!

Ann, I haven't seen any yet but I will be on the lookout for them. BTW, did you have an opportunity to go th the meeting on Wed. with Richard Mendenhall and Walter Bond?
Hi Ann - these butterflies are magical little creatures. I did not know about their habitat in Mexico, it's very fascinating!
Hi, Ann, I am a Michigan transplant and remember the Fall season as being the best ! Cool weather, outstanding color and a trip to the cider mill.
Be happy you have the shift. I love Texas but miss the seasons from up North. We still are having 90 degree days and dry weather. NO, I take that back we did have a couple of cool morings aroud the time of hurricane IKE or what ever that big devil's name was. We were luck in Dallas.
Enjoy your season and take a strool for me among the yellow leaves and kick up a bunch for us Texans.

Ann...
Great pic, and I have never figured out how those little critters make it to Mexico. It's amazing!
Don,
I did not attend that meeting on Wednesday. I was at the luncheon and then we went to the technology class with Doug Divitre. It was awesome.
Ann
Ann,
They are amazing.
Thanks for stopping by,
Ann
Bill,
Where in Michigan? My dad was from the UP.
Ann
Pete,
The leaves are just beginning to change. Where would you like for me to send them...;-)
Ann
Richard,
Thank you. I only had to take two to get the good one. I am always amazed at how many of them I see this time of year.
Ann
When I was a kid I was fascinated with butterflies...I think I still am....
This is the best time of year...I'm so stoked....it could be fall all year round!
Kelly,
Are you saying you grew up???
Ann
Larry,
I prefer the change in the seasons. I would get tired of the same thing all the time.
It is good to have changes....

When will this Proxy Error stuff quit! I just want to comment and keep getting the boot!!!
Monarchs are so beautiful. I watched a few flying this weekend, I think they are all out of here now. It's getting cold and wet, time for fall. :(
April,
It is already getting cold? Bummer.
