To the inspectors here in the Rain, let's talk about aluminum wiring.  I was showing a home today and as we were standing in the basement, I noticed this orange and black warning label on the electric panel.  It stated the home had aluminum wiring and this was a potentially dangerous item.  Of course, my buyers are not happy about this since the house has met their criteria. 

I want to know, on a home 40+ years old, how bad/dangerous is aluminum wiring?   Should the buyers beware?  Should they ask for the home to be re-wired?

Now that Christmas is over and you managed to get a new T.V. or computer, what are you going to do with the old one?  It is illegal to throw it in the trash since there is a good deal of lead in most units.  So do you keep the old one?  No, now you can recycle your T.V. in Eureka in an eco-friendly way at Earthbound Recycling. 

CRTs and T.V. are recycled at a cost of $10 per unit while other items such as keyboards, printers, telephones, VCRs, DVD players, etc, are accepted for a fee of 10 cents per pound.

Earthbound Recycling is located south of Highway 44 off Highway 109 at 25 Truitt Dr.  It is 1/4 of a mile south of Highway 44 on Highway 109.  They are open Mon-Sat. from 9 until 5.  If you have questions, their phone number is:  636-938-1188.

As I was driving to my office meeting this morning, I noticed something was missing... I panicked when I noticed my cellphone was not attached to my belt.  I was already 2.5 miles from my home.  I stopped and frantically looked around the car.  My phone was not in the car.  I had pulled off the road so I turned the car around and traveled back to my house. 

As I am driving, I am trying to think where I could have left the phone.  I am usually never without my phone.  It has become my security "blanket".  I reached the house and began my search.  The phone was hiding in my robe.  Hmmm..I must have been preoccupied with something. 

Then on the radio, they were talking about making cellphone use while driving illegal.  I have found if I am driving and there is someone else in the car, I will hand the phone to them to answer it or let it go to voice mail depending on the circumstances.  If the call requires a lot of attention or is going to be lengthy, I will pull over and talk. 

I do want to point out:  this new law is more than likely not about safety but about the bottom line for the insurance companies.  But wait, what do we buy insurance for????  IN CASE of an accident.
