Do you know the first-time buyers in the market?  I was reading a NAR study today about the survey they recently completed.  I found it interesting the median age of the first-time buyer is 30.  This is down from the 2007 age of 31. 

The median buyer's income was about $60,000.  And the kicker to the survey, the first-time buyers are purchasing homes costing approximately $165,000.  WOW!  My first home was significantly less than that.

It was also intriguing to note these buyers plan to remain in the homes they purchase for 10 years.  Here we have long term planning from the next generation of home owners.

With the slight rise in first time buyers actually purchasing a home, existing owners are seeing a way to make a trade up in the next year.  Interest rates are great, the supply of homes is plentiful, and prices are falling.  Looks like the perfect "buyer's market" storm.

Time to get off the fence and enlist the help of an agent to help you purchase a home...

Here is a story to make you smile.  My son, Alex, home from college is working on some Christmas presents.  He borrowed the scotch tape from me for something.  He used the tape and then for some unknown reason, he could not find it... 

I think this young man is going to drive himself crazy.  I have to laugh though because this is exactly something I would find myself doing.  Knowing this, he pretended to act as crazy as I might. ;-)

To give him a break from looking, I send him out to get the mail.  Upon returning, he spends another 30 minutes looking for the now apparently, very, invisible tape.  I convince him to tell me what he did after he received the tape....  He retraced his steps while I followed and looked as only a mother could.  (lol)

Finally, he said he went to his room, to which I commented, "The tape is in your room."  He adamantly denied this...eventually he did go back to his room and looked again.  And magically, there is the tape upside-down on top of his stack of CD's.  I laughed so hard, I nearly cried. 

He laughed too and decided he should write 3M and tell them the tape really is invisible.

As a reminder from the Hayden house, Enjoy the holiday season!  It will never be 2008 again.

As many of you may have already heard, gift cards this year could be a little scary to buy and give.  My shopping for the last couple of years has consisted of buying a variety of cards and tailoring the giving based on the recipient's likes and dislikes.  It has been a successful and stress free way to give gifts until now.

With many of the stores planning to close January 1st, why are they still selling gift cards?  This is not a concept easily understood.  Apparently, this is referred to as "Bankruptcy Planning".  There is no law to prevent the retailers from selling the cards. 

So now faced with a seemingly huge dilemma, I am going to opt to give a fairly universal gift:  a bottle of local red wine.  I am fancying St. James Blackberry, Mount Pleasant's Harvest Red in addition to Stone Hill's Concord.  I suppose this could be the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow...

The Scenic Regional Library is planning to host a free class:  Introduction to the Internet.

This class will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday January 21, 2009 at the Pacific Library on 119 W. St. Louis Street, Pacific, Missouri. 

It will be a beginner lever class to teach users how to find their way on the web.  They will learn techniques to discover how the net can be their place for news, government information, entertainment, etc. 

Experience with the Internet is not necessary.  The class is limited to 10 so call ahead to reserve your spot:  636-257-2712.

It is difficult to believe but Wines of Wildwood has been in business at the Dierberg's Town Center located in festive downtown Wildwood for 4 years.  To celebrate this awesome event, they are hosting an open house Friday December the 5th from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.
