I propose a name change for the day designated as Black Friday.  It should now be know as "We are Completely NUTS FRIDAY!  Why would people go and wait in line for a sale at 4 a.m. following a family holiday?  And why would a retailer have hours on Thanksgiving?  I was totally appalled at the fact Kmart and Walgreens were open on Thanksgiving Day.  Do people not have the right to spend time with family and friends without thinking about shopping? 

No wonder our country is so far in debt....  Everyone is addicted to shopping. 

I did venture out to the store at about 11 a.m..  It was still completely crazy.  The lines to check out were way too long for me.  The parking lots were overcrowded.  And the specials?  Well, let's just say, the two of whatever they had were already gone.  Or the item was made in China. 

The upcoming holiday is not about gifts.  It is about spending time with people you care about.  It should also be about taking the time to help someone in need.  So this year, take the time to remember what the holiday is about.  Gifts are nice but the greatest gift is love......

After months of anticipation, the Wildwood Hotel is now open.  It is located in lovely downtown Wildwood Missouri at 2801 Fountain Place in the Wildwood Town Center. 

This hotel is one of the Clarion Collection Hotels.  Its features include 112 rooms on five floors, indoor pool, high speed wireless Internet access, restaurant, outdoor parking, non-smoking rooms, microwaves, refrigerators, mini bars, exercise gym, turn down service, etc.

Yesterday, I happened upon a great secret in Wildwood, Missouri:  One Lucky Mutt.  This is a healthy pet food market and self-serve dog wash.  The store carries many great items including leashes, collars, pet spa items, shampoos, conditioners, beds, toys and bowls to name a few.  They have everything to help your pet feel like a true star. 

What really caught my eye was the self-serve dog wash.  As I spoke to Tracy, the owner, she told me about her unique service.  It is only $15 and they provide everything except the pooch.  The cost includes a choice of their 7 available shampoos in a wide array of scents.  Also included are all the tools for doing a professional grooming:  brushes, nail clippers, scissors, "hair" clippers and rakes.  Top this off with as many towels as you need and a forced-air professional dryer.  But wait, there is more, they clean up after the bath is over.

The bath areas are equipped with tubs at waist height to save your back.  They have ramps to get the dog into them easily.  And leashes to hold them where you want.   

Space is limited, however, no appointment is necessary.  I am going to take advantage of this special store here in Wildwood.

As a footnote they offer the Smelly Mutt Club, where you receive 6 for the price of 5 (on the washes).  My pet is going to love having a bath next time.  And I think I will too.

This time of year a question always arises about the holidays.  The burning question is :  Where will the festivities be held?  In other words, who is going to invite everyone to their house for Thanksgiving and then for Christmas? 

Typically, I am the hostess and not the guest.  I am not sure if this is by nature or choice.  For years, my mother held the celebrations, then she moved away. 

I am not sure what year it was when I took over the duties but I have them most of the years.  I am fortunate enough to have a home large enough to accommodate the whole family.  I have had gatherings bigger than I thought humanly possible.  And my immediate family does help getting things prepared.  I love having parties but this year, I am feeling a little weary of it all. 

In my family, it seems some do not take a turn hosting the celebrations.  Does anyone have suggestions on how to nicely inform them, they need to step up?  Or is there a nice way to do this? 

This year will you choose to be the host/hostess or the guest?

Here in the USA, we have made history.  Barack Obama has won the presidential election.  No matter how you may feel about this historic event, our country now needs to come together to support our new president.  Everyone in our great nation needs to stand firm and stay involved in the political process.
